Masters / Doctorate

I'm recruiting Master's and PhD students to carry out research projects in the fields of augmented microscopy, image processing and analysis, and digital imaging with neuroimaging applications.

Qualifications required

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, mathematics, biology, physics, neuroscience, or other relevant discipline.
  • A cumulative undergraduate grade point average of at least 3.3/4.3 (B+).
  • Excellent command of data structures and computer image processing and analysis methods.
  • Meet the admission requirements (see Master's in Computer Science, Doctorate in Computer Science and Doctorate in Cognitive Computing).
  • Demonstrate an interest in scientific research, digital imaging and computer vision.
  • Be rigorous.
  • Analytical and critical thinking.
  • An interest in learning French. TheUniversité du Québec à Montréal (UQÀM) is a French-language public university.

Assets

  • Completion of an introductory course in artificial intelligence.
  • Fluency in written English.
  • Enjoy travelling. Students are strongly encouraged to submit and present their research results at international scientific conferences.

Financial support

  • NSERC and FQRNT offer scholarships for excellence to students with excellent academic records (A average) and good research potential (ideally with at least one scientific publication for the doctorate).
  • I can offer financial support (scholarships) to students with an excellent academic record (A-) and strong research potential.
  • The Faculty of Science also offers scholarships for excellence

Undergraduate research internships

  • Registration: You must be registered at UQAM for the duration of your internship. It is not possible to do a research internship after the end of your bachelor's program.
  • Profil Coop: The research internship can count as one of the OIGL co-op profile internships. Please consult the co-op placement office for more information(https://stagecoop.uqam.ca/).
  • Academic excellence For UQÀM students wishing to do an introductory research internship in the laboratory, it is recommended that they have successfully completed (>= B+) the following courses or equivalent and have a good cumulative average of at least B+ (3.7/4.3).
    • CSE3105 (Data structures and algorithms)
    • INF600F (Image processing) or INF889G (Computer vision)
    • INF5071 (Infography)
  • Funding: See NSERC's Undergraduate Student Research Awards (USRA) program. A cumulative average of at least B (3.0/4.3) is required to be eligible for the competition. Depending on the year and number of applications, a minimum A- (3.7/4.3) average is required to be considered for an award. Fellowships may be available for applicants with an excellent average.

International students

  • At present, only applicants from institutions with which UQAM has a student exchange agreement or who hold their own scholarship are considered. Unsolicited applications are not considered.
  • It is possible to carry out a final year project in the laboratory.
